Four checks before buying RAM

Use one matched kit when possible
Two separately sold kits with the same label are not guaranteed to reach their advertised profile together. One matched two-module kit is usually the simplest choice for a gaming PC.
One module can reduce performance
A single memory module can reduce available memory bandwidth. A matched pair is often preferable when the platform supports it, especially for gaming.
